Okay, hear me out: bread is not hard. At least, not when you use this recipe! With a long lead time that lets the yeast do the work for you, there’s barely any kneading or prep time to speak of.
But then you get this gorgeous boule:
We’re using the no-knead bread recipe from Girl Versus Dough, and it couldn’t be simpler. Just set a reminder to start the dough the morning of, or the night before… and make sure you’ll be around to allow for the second rise before putting it in the oven. This recipe is perfect for a slow, lazy Sunday!
No-Knead Bread

Mix water and yeast; measure dough ingredients, knead the dough
Ingredients
3 cups of all-purpose flour, plus a little extra for dusting (you can use all white or a 1:1 mix of white and wheat)
2 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp active dry yeast
1 ½ cups warm water (about 110 degrees)
Tools
Large Dutch oven with lid
Large mixing bowl
Measuring spoons and cups
Plastic wrap
Parchment paper
Directions
Step 1
8-18 hours prior to baking, mix dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Add water and mix thoroughly, making sure to incorporate all of the flour. Cover with plastic wrap and leave to rise for 8-18 hours.
Step 2
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place the Dutch oven and lid inside the oven and allow to heat up for 30 minutes. Move on to step 3.
Step 3
Flour a clean portion of your kitchen counter. Turn the dough out onto the counter and quickly form into a ball using floured hands. (You can try this method).
Step 4
Place a piece of parchment paper on the counter and dust generously with flour. Place your loaf onto the parchment and score the top by making a shallow (⅛”) cut across the top with a knife.
Step 5
Once the 30 minutes have passed, pull out the Dutch oven; pick up the bread by the corners of the parchment paper and place it inside (parchment paper too!) Replace the lid and return the Dutch oven to the oven to bake for about 50 minutes. Bread is done when the center reaches a temperature of 190 degrees.
